Your opinions so far

We have began to read the book and I would like to know what do you think of the character Bruno? How would you describe him and the situation that he is in? What knowledge do you have of this period in our world's history? Remember to think about the questions before you  answer them...there are three parts to be answered.

  1. For a nine year old he comes up with some really ironnic and innocent ideas, explainations and prununciations like the fury(Fuhrer) and out-with (Aushwitz). I think these ideas will lead to an interesting story.

  2. this part of history i know a lot about.there was a docter at auschwitz called vincent mengele and he use to do experiments on twins.

  3. Bruno is very adventurous boy who loves to explore. He's trapped in his own little world and is not aware whats going on around him. The author has been very clever by never calling a concentration camp a concentration camp and always ending a chapter very mysteriously.

  7. Bruno is a nine your old boy growing up in Berlin. He has a very good imagiantion. He has a sister called Gretel and she is 12 years old. They move out of Berlin to a far away place for his Fathers work,Near a death camp ,but Bruno and Gretel don't know it is a death camp they think it is a farm or some sort of holiday house. Bruno and Gretel don't like the house it is very dark and lonely. Bruno looks out and see all people dressed in blue and white pyjamas. He sees people pushing wheelbarrows and going for a walk.Bruno is in a very confusing situation.Where he doesn't quiet know what his fathers job is and he is a little bit scared seeing soliders out the front of his house and in his fathers office and screaming at children.

  9. Bruno is an innocent little 9 year old boy and he is not happy about the place that he sees through his window which is a death camp, but he donsen't know that yet he olny thinks that it's a farm so far. I can't wait until we read more about it plus I really want to find out what happens next to Bruno and when he finds that other boy. The place thats he is in is set in world war II in the holicost plus he calles the fuhrer fury and Aushwitz as outwith.

  10. I think that Bruno a nine year old, is an innocent boy who knows nothing of the Fury. He dosen't know about most of his fathers work. The Holocaustis part of World War 2. Jews are being forced to go to concentration camps and gettos. Adolf Hittler wanted a pure race of Germans who have blonde hair, blue eyes and white skin. He wanted to get rid of all jews in Germany.

  11. Bruno is a nine year old boy growing up in Berlin. He also has a sister called Gretel. He is a very adventurous boy. They move out of Berlin, so were far far away. They have to go because of there fathers job. He goes to hes new room and sees out of the window. He then sees a farm, and there were people working there. But then he thought, there were no animals. He tells Gretel, but she dosen't now either. But what they saw was a death camp and the jews were dieing.

  12. Bruno is a 9 yr old boy, he is very naive and innocent. He doesn't know that there is a deadly concentration camp next to him. He thinks it is a farm.
now in the holicoust 45 million people died.

  13. Bruno is a bit naive when it come to the changing world and he's also a bit like any other eight year old boy I think he is great and keeps the story interesting. In world war 2 they were many casulities and death 45 million to get the number right.

  14. Bruno is a very happy boy until he has to leave all the good things behind and move to this awful place called outwith well thats what they call it. He hates it he wants to go home to Berlin. Its awful!. Even worse outside his window is all these people working like slaves. He thinks its a country side but it really is a consentration camp.

  15. Bruno is a 9 year old boy. He is situated next to a death camp. He thinks its a farm but he soon realises there are no animals. He sees many people there. He asks his father but he says that they are not humans. His father says that he should not go near the fenced of area. When he looks out of his new bedroom window, he sees soldiers shouting at little children. He is very confused about it. He sees men pushing wheelbarrows across the width of the fenced of area. He also saw at least 50 people being led of to an area where he could see no more. He was very confused with it all and so was his sister, Gretel.

  16. In my opinion, I think that Brunno is a bored, confused 9 year old. For a 9 year old who had to say good-bye to his friends and move next to a death camp lead by the 'fury' it would be pretty hard for his mother and his father. Things in this time in history were sad, frustrating and pointless. What use comes from suffering. The jews had to die under the laughter of the soldiers who foolishly took their rights away. After starting to learn about this topic, I don't know how there can be still people who believe that the soldiers did the right thing and should be praised from treating the jews horribly.

  17. Bruno is innocent and naive boy thats likes to advanter. In the situation Bruno is very confused and wishes they didn't move.

In this time th e holocaust 45 mjllon people were killed and 6 millon of them were Jews. Hitler wanted a pure German race which ment blonde hair, blue eye people and no disabled, gypseis, gays and Jews.

  18. I think Bruno is innocent and a naive boy. He has no clue what is going on around him. I would describe the situation that Bruno is in as, he wants to know what is going on. Why is there a big building over there? Why did father tell me that the people behind the fence aren't really people? Why are they all wearing the same clothes? Who are the men always coming to our house to talk to father? Why can't I go into fathers office? In this period of our history I know its World War II and Adolf Hitler is trying to kill all the Jews,Gypsies,Slaves,Disabled,
Gays and many more. Adolf wanted to do this so he could make a pure German race, with only blue eyed and blonde haired Germans.

  19. The holocaust was a very sad part of our history. It was all started by one man (Adolf Hitler) it really amazes me how one man can make the world at war. This surely means one man can make a difference, many men and women tried to make a difference and they were Oskar Schindler and Fr Maximillion Kolbe. Hitler had big ideas to rule the world and exterminate all the different which is wrong and un-humane. He tried to get rid of Jews, disabled people and gays, he wanted Germany to be the head country and to rule the world, he wanted a pure bred country with people who only have blue eyes and blond hair. So he decided to inforce concentration camps. these camps are places where people are torcherd, humilliated and stripped of there rights. Its truly one of the most horrific periods in history and it makes me wonder who could ever do such a thing...

  20. Reading about the Holocaust is quite intersting.Learning about it makes you realize what really did happen all those years ago. I believe that adolf Hitler and his soldiers are bigaccusators and should not have killed all those innocent Jews!
Bruno is a nine year old boy who has moved to a new house out in the middle of nowhere. There is no-one to play with. One day when looks out out his bedroom window he sees a tall, wired fence that has thousands of people standing on the other side. At first, he innocently thinks that it's a farm but then rules that resolution out because there is no animals. Now he thinks its a sort of camp. When he looks what is out side makes him feel a sudden feel of coldness and unsaftyness. He becomes puzzled because every single one of them is wearing "striped pyjamas". He also sees people in uniforms (like the ones who come into his house to speak to father,) that seem to be shouting.
This book is a very informative book and the way way the author plays around with certain (fuhrer-fury, Austwitch- Out-with) words is fantastic. I can't wait to finish it!

  21. I really like the boys in the stirped pyjamas and i think i would be good to see the moive about the book.I like how bruno stands up for the maid maria.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I fell sorry for Maria because she doesnt get why Bruno's Father was nice to her family, but doing terrible things to the people in the camp.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I feel really sorry for Maria because everyone treats her so badly and I feel sorry for him to because he had to move out of his place and move to the horable Out-with. Out-with is so gloom and bad. I don't know how Bruno's dad could do such a thing to helpless people like the Jews,Gypsies and the slaves. I think Gretel is so mean by the way she treats Maria and I hated the part how she said "run me a bath now," I just hated it. I am liking this book so far but I just don't like Gretel and the how the dad is the main soilder of the people.

  24. Me to mitchell it's so sad to see the maid to be treated that way.:)

  25. I feel sory for Maria because bruno's dad so kind to but not to the Jews and Maria dose not know what she is geting herself into or becoming a part of it.

  26. I don't blame Bruno that he doesnt like Out -With because it is a dark and unfriendly place to live in and to work in.I fell sorry for Bruno because he had to move away from his friends.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I also feel sorry for Bruno because he dose not know what is going on and all there is to know about hes father's job.

  28. i think the book is very good but i dont like how they are going to kill all the jews.

  33. I feel sorry for Bruno because he had to move schools.

  34. I think that Gretel is a bit kind in the inside but on the out side mean and orders around and mean to Bruno.

    ReplyDelete
  35. i think that if i was Maria i would be counfused.I would wonder why Bruno's dad would do such a thing.Bruno thinks like a grown up and is very respectful to Maria.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Their is one thing on my mind how did maria and brunos dad meet. It's so had to find the anser so if you now it please tell me.Becase i all ready now how it ends and i think brunos sister is spoilet and sould grow like brunos good commet about maria and how she sould do things her self and treat bruno nice'll because he seems more grown up and the opasite to his dad than be a commander in a cunstrasen camp.so if you like bruno and maria you seem quiet nice and grown up to now that they are the nice ones. But the rest are all bad and shell fish and greedy so i hope you a greere like me and like the book.:)

  39. I think Bruno is a curious, innocent and nieve and has no idea whatsoever of what is happening in the 'farm'. I know quite a far bit about this period in time because we are doing in Yr 6 and i have an Uncle who was in WW2.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Bruno is a bit vague and unaware of what is happening and that he lives next to a death camp and that his dad works for the SS. He also does not know that there are people in that camp and they are about to die.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Bruno is a very inoccent nine year old boy who lives near a very strange camp (concentration camp). Bruno is in a crossroad situation and he does not no what to do. The book is set in World War II during the holocaust. I think the author published this book so everyone can know how much pain all the Jews were in and how badly they were treated.

  42. Bruno is an innocent and naive 9 year old boy who lives in a house rite next to Aushwitz (a death camp) set in WW2 in the holocaust it is about Bruno and his family during good times and bad

    ReplyDelete
  43. Bruno is an innocent neive 9 year old child. Bruno is unaware that he lives at one of the biggest death camps Auchwitz (out with). He is also unaware that his father is a memeber of the SS (Secret Service). At this time in history (World War II)The Nazi's had invaded Holland and Poland.

  44. Bruno is a very curious 9 year old boy. He always has something to say about the world around him. The situation he is in his quite confusing for him because he doesn't really understand what people are saying. This part of history was very devastating for all people in the world and amazing the way the Jews were treated and how no-one said anything to stop the Nazis. The Jews were son inocent!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think that Bruno is very nieve and inesent and does not know what is going on over the other side of the fence.I don't think that Bruno knows that his father is doing very bad things to the Jews.I think that hitler is a very bad man.

  46. Bruno, for a 9 year old is very curious. He loves adventures and would like to go any where.
